The Dome of the Rock is NOT a Mosque—The Riddle of the Dome of the Rock—It was built by and for the Jews!

dome of rock

The Dome of the Rock is NOT, and has never been, a Mosque or a place for Islam.

While these words may shock you, histoiry clearly shows the Dome of the Rock is NOT an Islamic Mosque!!! It was originally built for the Jews and was built BY the Jews, Byzantine Christians and Muslim workers (but primarily by Jewish workers) who worked together in unison.

The Dome of the Rock was built from the remains of local Christian Churches and (it is said) from the remains of the old Jewish Temple.

Abd el-Malik gave permission for the building of the Dome of the Rock. It was a political move on his part.

Building the Dome of the Rock provided at least four strategic purposes for Abd el-Malik :

  1. It temporarily satisfied and won the moral support of Jewish residents (who wished for the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple) by providing them a place of prayer and worship.

  2. It brought unity to Jerusalem by providing a structure that could also be used as a place of pilgrimage by the Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike.

  3. It redirected his Muslim residents away from pilgrimaging to Mecca which was in the province of his enemies.

  4. It provided a structure meant to rival the over-dominating Christian structures in Jerusalem.

In summery it provided:

  1. A Jewish house of prayer

  2. A place of pilgrimage for all others

  3. A distraction from Mecca

  4. A rival to the over-dominating Christian structures

OUOTES:

“Often incorrectly called the Mosque of Umar, the Dome of the Rock, known in Arabic as Qubbat As-Sakhrah, is not a mosque for public worship but rather a mashhad, a shrine for pilgrims . . . The Dome of the Rock, while certainly one of the world’s great architectural masterpieces, is often incorrectly understood to be an Islamic creation.

“The Jews who built the house believed that their redemption had already come. Ofir’s conclusion is that the Dome of the Rock is a Jewish building.”

Temple Mount Faithful 2001

The article below will blow your mind! Click on it and understand the Dome of the Rock was  a Jewish House of Prayer meant to be a prerequisite to the building of the third Temple. Some Jews thought the Temple had already been built, albeit in miniature form, when the  Dome of the Rock was originally built. While others wait for the rebuilding of the third Temple some think it has already been built some think it may already be here.

However, it is my scholarly opinion the original Temple never even stood in this spot. It stood over thr Dome of Tablets (I will address this in another article).

At any rate The Dome of the Rock was built by and for the Jews.  Click on the following article and be amazed..

  1. In 1993/4 I headed a four man team of Roofing Leadworkers laying 140 tonne of sheet lead to the lower roof slopes of the Dome of the Rock. Shortly after, whilst working on the Cathedral roof in Truro Cornwall UK, whilst staying in a rented cottage named Shiloh I ‘woke’, I won’t explain it takes TOO long.
The Temple IS the Temple of prophecy, and it IS restored, and yes we are ‘close’ now…..
